Birth Control Won’t Heal Your PCOS (Try This Instead!)

If you suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), you’ve probably searched high and low for help but still don’t have the answers you’re looking for.

PCOS affects approximately 1 in 10 women of childbearing age. Unfortunately, 70% of the gals who have it struggle with infertility, but it often goes undiagnosed for years. It’s common for a woman to not even know she has PCOS until she’s trying to conceive. That’s bad enough, but what’s even worse is that doctors aren’t telling you the truth about PCOS. It is absolutely curable, but most of them will only write you a prescription for birth control or Metformin and send you on your way.

SOME COMMON SYMPTOMS OF PCOS ARE:

  • Irregular, painful periods or no periods at all (struggling to ovulate)

  • Excessive hair growth (usually on the face, chest, back, or bottom)

  • Weight gain or struggling to lose weight

  • Thinning hair and hair loss on the head

  • Oily skin and acne

  • Skin tags, dark spots, or thick patches of skin (usually on the back of the neck, in the armpits, or under the breasts)

  • Difficulty conceiving, infertility, or miscarriage

Because there are varying levels of PCOS, getting a proper diagnosis can be tricky.

One blood test simply isn’t enough. Even if your doctor says your androgen levels, insulin, and estrogen look fine—there’s a big chance they’re not seeing the entire picture.

It’s common for women with PCOS to be insulin resistant. And unfortunately, it’s even more common for a physician to recommend a prescription for Metformin, leaving you completely dependent on a drug to regulate your blood sugar for the rest of your life.

Your blood work can look “normal” and show that you’re producing estrogen, but there’s a very high chance it’s just continually recycling in your body rather than going down the correct metabolic pathways. To actually reverse your PCOS and heal your body, you need to test for multiple hormonal imbalances and get metabolic pathway testing.

But don’t worry—getting the proper labs done is easier than it sounds. No matter where you live in the world, we can drop ship everything directly to your front porch so you can do all your testing in the privacy of your own home. You can book a Fertility Consult or call Magnolia Wellness at 949-612-7247 when you’re ready to get started.

Birth control isn’t the answer. You can reverse your PCOS naturally.

Birth control, hormonal contraceptives, the pill . . .

Call it what you want—just don’t call it the solution for PCOS.

Treating PCOS with birth control is like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound.

It may cover a few things up, but it doesn’t solve your problem. And continuously trying to manage symptoms with an ineffective solution only makes things worse in the long run.

Even if it seems like birth control is helping to balance your hormones and manage your PCOS symptoms, it’s just masking the problem. You may not be able to see this now, but those pesky PCOS issues will come back loud and proud when you get off the pill to start trying for a baby.

Birth control is a temporary, artificial, unsustainable “solution” that will only make the road to healing your PCOS (and eventually getting pregnant) longer.

Why on earth would you put up with all the damage the pill causes for a temporary fix when you can truly heal yourself naturally?

Yes, it’s more work to take the natural route. If you’re not willing to put in the effort for yourself, at least do it for your children. PCOS is genetic, and by not curing it, your odds of passing this on to your future daughter increase by roughly 40%.

There are two extremely effective ways to heal PCOS naturally.

1. ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture opens up blocked pathways, helps manage insulin resistance, reduces inflammation, increases circulation, and facilitates proper hormone communication throughout the body. It’s often overlooked and undervalued when it comes to treating PCOS, but adding a few sessions into your healing journey can speed up your PCOS reversal rate significantly.

You’ll want to do your first three acupuncture treatments within a six week window because that’s how and when we regulate your hormone levels. Acupuncture sends a memo to your pituitary gland to regulate the hormone messaging that it's sending to the ovaries that produce the estrogen. After your first three sessions, getting acupuncture one or two times a month will help to keep your insulin in check, balance your hormones, and reduce inflammation.

2. SUPPLEMENTATION (ESPECIALLY WITH NAC)

Supplements are an easy addition to your PCOS healing journey, and while this is in no way a one-size-fits-all fix—there are a handful that I routinely recommend. Myo-Inositol, N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC), Vitamin D3 + K2, Berberine, and artichoke extract are each great for women with PCOS.

While all of these supplements are effective . . .

If you have PCOS and want to have a baby, you must take NAC

Women with PCOS are three times more likely to have a miscarriage in the early months of pregnancy . . . and that’s if they can even get pregnant at all. Many women with PCOS struggle to ovulate consistently, but research shows that NAC can help you to get pregnant and stay pregnant.

NAC induces ovulation, boosting ovulation rate from 1% to 49% in PCOS women.

It improves endometrial thickness, increases pregnancy rates by 40%, and lowers the chance of miscarriage by 60%.

And 600 mg daily of NAC boosts the likelihood of pregnancy continuing past 20 weeks by 190%.

There is nothing else out there that can do this—if you want to get pregnant and stay pregnant, you need to take NAC!

It’s safe to take NAC when you’re trying to conceive and throughout your entire pregnancy.

PCOS is one of the biggest causes of failed pregnancies in women, but you can have a full recovery.
