3 Ways to Prep Yourself for Meditation
Our favorite Kundalini and Breathwork guide, Maria Martinez, shares how she sets herself up for a successful meditation session.
It's already hard enough to unplug and disconnect. But when we do - oh, we sure wish we did it more often!
Here are the three ways I get into the meditation zone.
Set the space
When it’s time to meditate, I flick on some incense, get a really comfy blanket, tea, and my dog. If I am in the car, I turn the heat up a bit. If I am in the kitchen, I play a mantra on my speaker. Your space is a place for safety. Meditation is a one-on-one date with you. It’s a few minutes of the day devoted to your heart and you want to make sure it can rest in a safe space to open up, release, shift, and heal.
Ditch the clock
Time is an illusion of this world. If you drop in for 3 or 30 minutes, you have given yourself the most precious gift of them all! Meditation is not quantity, it is quality. Don't think about how long you have to sit and meditate before you are actually there. Surrender to you, and then look at how long you were gone into this incredible world of you! You will be so surprised.
Let go of your expectations
The most beautiful thing about meditation is that it presents all the things we are looking for and can't seem to find or understand. When we drop off all expectations, we are presented with infinite opportunities, ideas, and doorways. Open up to receive. Creativity is in your DNA so drop in to enjoy the ride.
